21 December 2014 Auckland City have just had one of the biggest weeks in NZ football history. At the World Club Cup in Morocco, representing Oceania, they finished 3rd, after beating the Moroccan champs, then the African champs, losing to South American champs in extra time 1 - 2, then beating North & Central American champs Cruz Azul 4 - 2 on penalties after finishing 1 - 1 in the 3rd place play off. Veteran All White Ivan Vicelich won the bronze ball for the 3rd best player at the tournament. Go to Photo of the week to see who he shared the stage with! Congrats Auckland City! To cap off a great week, the Nix beat Sydney away 2 - 0. Merry Nixmas!

16 December A few Rangers locals up at the Nix game. "The biggest 1 - 1 massacre in history" was how coach Ernie Merrick described it. 11000 at Eden Park could only wonder how the Nix didn't win by about three goals.
Football on tv tonight. It's the FFA Cup final. Adelaide v Perth Glory at 9.30 pm
On Thursday Auckland City v San Lorenzo (champions of South America) in the World Club Cup, 8.30am kick off. Auckland, a team of part timers, has shocked the world by beating the host champion team from Morrocco, then the African champs to get into the semi finals.

21 September Here are photos of today's action. Here's Ranee's report on the tournament today.
Proud of all the Ladies today and what some great plays and passing going on. Bring on next season. From when we first played Old Blues and went down 21-0, to today and going down 10-0 that's awesome, big change. What a second game against Te Puke and what a finish with a 1-1 score and going to penalty shoot out, great goalie work by Tracy Thank you to the ladies that did the penalty shoot out Kate, Gillian, Shirley, Mishka, Ranee).
The ladies had a great day out there even if we didn't come away with anything. Most of us stayed on and watched the final games and man they were some interesting games with Whakatane taking out the Pullar Bowl against Te Puke and Rotorua taking out the Pullar Cup against Old Blues. Great efforts by all teams today.
Ranee

13 September Only a month till the Phoenix season kicks off. Check out our Wellington Phoenix pages, while there scroll down to see the history of the Nix over the years.

11 September There was a fun post season training indoors for those eight who attended.

9 September Click here for photos of the win at Papamoa.

7 September Rangers men ended the season on a positive note, winning away at Papamoa to claim top spot in the split BOP Div 2 Bottom Six and also claim the record of the best defence in all the BOP div league. Super sub Tiemen Corporaal senior came on to grab the winner. Bazza player of the day. Here's the match report.
Two ex-Rangers players played in finals yesterday, Jezza in the Duff Rosebowl final for New Plymouth Rangers, beating Hawera 3 - 0; and Ashley in the Sydney premiere grand final playing for Waverley Old Boys going down 1- 0 to a physical Coogee United 1 - 0. Oi Oi Rangers.

31 August A Roundoff to round off the season! Olivia Davidson performed a roundoff (cartwheel) to celebrate scoring the opening goal of a win over table leaders Tauranga City 2 - 1 today. Rangers were terrific from defence to attack. Read the report. Check out more cool photos of the win, including Olivia's gymnastics at Pitbull Photos. Well done Zach!
Rangers break up is Sat 18th October. Keep it free!

27 August News from the club meeting tonight. The prize giving, AGM, breakup night will be in mid October. Date to be confirmed, but could be Sat 11th October. It could well be preceeded by an Amazing Race (ask Jenny and Ranee!). Rangers women are entering the Pullar Cup on Sunday Sept 21st, team photo to be taken then. From now on the women will be training on Sunday afternoons at 2pm at Awakeri. The men might well join them after their final game. Rangers men are trying to arrange the Sponsors' Cup challenge with Whakatane. Both teams will be looking at new strips for next season.

24 August YES THEY CAN! Rangers women 3 Rotorua 0. Check out lots of cool photos here at Pitbull Photos. Shirley player of the day. Read the official report.
Here's Ranee's report:
We've done it again, 3-0 to us, Congratulations to the ladies give yourselves a BIG pat on the back we have done it again for the second weekend in a row with a win, let's go for a third win next weekend.
Congratulations to Kate Robbie and Jenny McIntyre for getting our goals OH and we can't forget to say a BIG thank you to Rotorua for getting our second goal, cheers girls and thank you .
The Back line had another great game out there by holding Rotorua off and some great defending in the box, midfielders you all held strong in the middle. Congratulations to Shirley Patterson for getting player of the day, you had an awesome game out there and great corner kicks and even better shot on goal.

23 August Rangers had a luckless day at Rotorua, losing 4 - 0 although it could easily have been 3 - 3!! Guy player of the day. Here's the report. Good luck to Rangers women at Awakeri. Can they get revenge against Rotorua??

20 August Club meeting after the women's training next Wednesday. 7.45pm. Up for discussion: end of season ideas, sponsorship for next season, etc. All welcome.

18 August On behalf of the Plains Rangers men's team I want to say an huge congratulations to the Rangers Women's team for their first win of the season. I was at the home game you played against Te Puke where they won 4-0. For you guys to beat them away and keep them scoreless is a brilliant result.
Chris Butler.

17 August Rangers women win!!!! Kate Simons scored a first half goal at Te Puke and Rangers kept a clean sheet to take the win. This is Rangers women's first ever win, apart from a win by default against Kawerau last season, in the BOP leagues! CONGRATULATIONS! Ranee's report:
HOLY SHIT WE WON our first game today, trust us LADIES to leave it to the end of the season to take a WIN of 1-0 against Te Puke. Bloody awesome game out there today, great team work and great passing skills and some great skill out there today. BIG BIG high fives for all of us today. We scored in the first 20 mins and held of Te puke for 90 mins with out them scoring. BIG thank you to the extra players that we had today much appreciated. Great goal scored by Kate Simons who also gets player of the day as well, congrats Kate Simons. We had a lot of time on the ball and kept the ball in their half for a lot of the game. The back line held and played strong today, and a strong mid field with Kelly Wilson played a great game for us.
Lets go and do it all again the same next weekend at home against Rotorua B.

A beautiful day in Taupo for the Wellington Phoenix 3 NZ selection 2 game. Lots of good football.

15 August Rangers men have to cool their boots tomorrow. There's no game. A fun training on Thursday. A couple of the women's team joined the men. Olivia scored a nice goal and then proceeded to do a celebration round-off and cartwheel. Hopefully she gets to do it at Te Puke on Sunday too!
Don't forget the Nix are playing in Taupo on Sunday.

10 August Rangers women continue to play well without reward. This is Ranee's report. Click here to read Bazza's reworded one! The ladies had a great game out there today to hold off for a 3-0 score against Tauranga City today. We tried to hold them off at 1 nill in the first half and we did awesome to do that, then the second half we played a better game even if they did get another couple of goals. Rest up Carrie Fynn with your hammie, nice to see you again Ashleigh Danies and good to see you out of your cast too. Congrats to Mary Pease for getting player of the day, you had an awesome game out there. Julie Reihana you also did some great work in the back line as well.

9 August Our deepest sympathy goes to Tracy Pullar on the passing of her mum. And to Jason and Paige of course.
Today Rangers men had plenty of possession but couldn't make it count. Whakatane sneaked two goals to take the win. Here's the report.

5 August The Wellington Phoenix are playing in our area soon. On Sunday 17 August at Taupo's Owen Delany Park, 1.30pm kick off, the Pheonix play New Zealand A. Adults $8, Children $4. You can get tickets here. It'd be worth a trip down there.

4 August It's Bay One v Bay Two in both the BS Cup and Bowl finals. Check out our BOP results page for the weekend's results.

3 August Rangers women had another good outing, despite losing 3 - 0 at Rotorua, with bravery earning Carrie Fynn player of the day. Here's the report.

27 July Rangers men had a draw with Te Puke, while Rangers women lost 4 - 0. Here are the reports.

23 July Great to see Matt Dalgity in the Yellow Fever fans, shirts off in Auckland as the Phoenix beat visiting West Ham United 2 - 1. Fabulous result and display by the Nix, with midfielder Albert Riera outstanding. Manny Muscat, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Nathan Burns all excellent.
The new women's draw is out. This Sunday Rangers are home to Te Puke.

20 July Rangers women held out till nearly half time, with keeper Kate outstanding. Taupo won 6 - 0 in the end, Tracey Pullar player of the day. The report of men's and women's games.

19 July Rangers managed to field something like their first eleven today. Great football for a while, then the doldrums, a late flourish. Five different scorers. Chris Butler's late cameo, a goal and an assist in the last five minutes was a highlight. Matt Orr-McKeown player of the day. The Report.
Tomorrow Rangers women are at home to Taupo. Rumours of people undergoing the ice challenge after the match!
For those of you who are bored, Rangers fun quiz has Shift Workers currently being better footballers than Farmers? Can this be true?

14 July Looks like Rangers women's game with Taupo will now be played this coming Sunday, to be confirmed, then their league is split into top six and bottom four. Two other games have to be played too before the split can be done: Old Blues v Te Puke and Rotorua v Whakatane.
Well well well the Germans took out the World Cup. Lovely goal to win it. Jacob will be smiling!

13 July Very wet ground conditions have postponed today's women's game against Taupo. Now the sun is shining! Specially on the Dutch - a nice win over Brazil, where the weather will be gloomy for years!

12 July Miserable conditions saw Rangers men's game transfered to Boord park. Rangers were missing several players and had a few more limping by the end of it. A 5 - 2 loss does not tell the full story.... Here's the report. Kirk player of the day.

10 July Now its just Ali (Argentina) v Jacob (Germany). Penalty shoot out at training tonight???? We might need the practice for our knock out game at Rotorua, who knows! Bad luck for all our Dutchies (Wett, Tiemen, Tiemen, Michel, Bas etc ), however the orange will still glow on the Rangers logo.
Welcome back to big Jason Shaw at training. Jase has been in Aussie, last played in 2004!

9 July Who would have thought that Brazil would get smoked / annihilated by Germany 7 - 1 this morning. Now only Jacob and Ali are left alive in Rangers sweep (see below on June 12th). Check out Photo of the week.

7 July The new top 6 bottom 6 Bay Two draw is out. Check on our BOP results page for the draw, or just Rangers results for our games.

6 July The day got off to a good start for all the Dutch Rangers players with Netherland winning eventually over Costa Rica in a penalty shoot out to go to the semi finals.
Rangers women travelled to Te Puke with only one sub and gave it a good go, but lost 3 - 0 in the end. Paige was player of the day. The report.

5 July Rangers men had a good 3 - 1 win at home to Papamoa. However, Tiemen Corporaal senior sustained a dislocated elbow, which took the gloss off things. He had also scored a very cheeky backheeled goal earlier in the game. Bazza player of day. Here's the report.

2 July Chris is now out as well. The draw for the Baysportsmed Bowl and Cup is out. Rangers have Rotorua away on July 12th. See the rest on our BOP results page

30 June Rangers women had a hard fought 0 - 0 draw with Tauranga City today. Shirley hit the cross bar! Kat was player of the day. The report (men and womens)
Barrie, Matt O and Ranee are now out of World Cup reckoning too, but Wett will luckily keep wearing his Dutch scarf.

28 June On the plus side, Rangers welcomed back James Hart from studies overseas. However, the trip to play bottom placed Kawerau started poorly and although Rangers recovered for a better second half, a 1 - 1 draw was not what was wanted with the top and bottom six split in the league after next week's game. Rangers will need a good result against Papamoa to make the top six and may have to rely on other results too.
Rangers World Cup picks are closing in.... Already Julie and Matt D are out. Tiemen, Jacob and Ali still have their three picks alive! (See June 12)
Check out these crazy cartoons about the Dutch... Super Van Persie and Robben v Aussie.

23 June Check out Photo of the week! Well done to the Dutchies for topping their group.

22 June Sadly, Rangers women had to default their game today. Hopefully more players will be available this week! The World Cup is proving highly entertaining with lots of talking points. The table below of picks have those team eliminated so far in italics!

15 June Rangers women played well, going down to an unlucky goal at Rotorua. The report.

14 June Rangers didn't quite hold on for draw today, Old Blues scored late in the game for a 1 - 0 win. Tiemen Corporaal players of the day, with Tiemen senior also in great form. Wett's Dutch scarf got plenty of air after Netherlands fine win this morning. Here's the report.

12 June An entertaining indoor training followed by Wett's World Cup Wonder picks. The random draw led to..... Spain and Costa Rica being allocated to nobody (so the money goes on the bar if they win). As for the rest, was Jacob the lucky one?

Tiemen Algeria Brazil France
Ali Argentina Nigeria Switzerland
Julie Australia Portugal England
Jacob Belgium Germany Netherlands
Barrie Bosnia & Herzegovina Cameroon Chile
Wett Colombia Russia Ecuador
Ranee Croatia Japan Uruguay
Matt D Ghana Iran Italy
Chris Ivory Coast USA Greece
Matt O Honduras South Korea Mexico

10 June Here are some cool photos of the women's game with Te Puke on Sunday. Thanks to Pitbull Photography. There's a link to their page here.

8 June An excellent display on debut from Kate Robbie in the Rangers' women's goal earned a draw with Te Puke today. The match report.

7 June Rangers men notched another win, away to high flying Tauranga City. Ben McPherson scored, and now he and Sam head off overseas for four weeks. Sam hit the post with his penalty after being fouled, so it could have been a double celebration! Rangers welcomed back Grahame Sims and Matt Dalgity who both lasted 90 mins despite having many weeks off with injury. Rangers had one rolling sub! We may need a couple of extra players to see us through until the McPhersons return! Bazza was player of the day. Here's the match report.

1 June After a shaky start, Rangers got their game together and had a 5 - 0 win against Rotorua. Ben McPherson scored a hat trick, Jaiden Ibbetson, in his last game for Rangers, scored a lovely volley and had two assists. Bastian Berger was named man of the match as he heads home to Austria.
"We were doing alright till the fulla with the beard came on and destroyed our midfield!" bemoaned a Rotorua player. Here's the match report. and some action photos.

28 May The lights are up at Awakeri. Tomorrow Horizon are meant to be connecting them. Will training be indoors or outdoors?? Be prepared for either!

Remember subs are due, at least part subs. Barrie won't be at training, so Saturday will do fine, or lodge them by internet to 01-0310-0056958-00
All the best to Rangers women's keeper Ashleigh as she has six weeks in a cast for a broken tibia. Old Blues were determined to score as many goals as possible against them, and the challenge that saw Ashleigh injured contributed to one of their goals.

26 May A couple of photos from the men's cup game with Kawerau.

25 May A very bad day for Rangers women, with keeper Ashleigh Daines suffering a broken leg at league leaders Old Blues and Ranee Whiting a shoulder injury.

24 May An excellent effort in the CNS Cup had Rangers level with BOP div one leaders Kawerau 1 - 1 at full time. Kawerau grabbed a goal in extra time to take the game. Christian Wetting outstanding in goal for Rangers, with Ian Ferguson named co-player of the day. Here are the details (omiting the sick Kirk's extended game time, Kirk's almost scrap with Hami, the look on Ian's face when he realised there were two lots of 15 minutes for extra time, Bastian's international cheer team)

19 May On our fun poll, we'd better make Lanae the Someone else refered to in the last question!!

18 May Rangers women had a hard battle, scored a good goal and almost got several others. A 1 - 1 draw with Rotorua. Well done. Here's the report and here are some photos.

17 May A narrow loss for Rangers men, 1 - 0 at Whakatane. A hard fought local derby played in good spirit. Ali Scott player of the day. Here are the details. Go support Rangers women tomorrow at Awakeri 12.30. Can they grab a win against Rotorua White? Oi Oi Rangers.

16 May The draw for the Bay Sportsmed Cup is out. Rangers men are at home to Kawerau Bay One league leaders next Saturday. Can Rangers be the giant killers of the Cup??? See the rest of the draw on our BOP results page. Here are the rules for the Cup.

12 May A reminder. Subs are due, either in full or part by the end of May. $125 per adult, $75 for students. Subs can be given to Barrie at trainings or via internet banking to 01-0310-0056958-00

11 May Rangers women lost 10 - 0 at Papamoa. As befits Mothers Day, the game was played with a fun spirit. Ranee was player of the day. The report of men's and women's games.

10 May A good win at Whakatane, 2 - 0. Jacob player of the day, Ben the goals, from Jaiden's assists. Here are the details.

7 May Here are some nice photos of the women's draw with TCU on Sunday.

6 May Great News! The Eastern Bay Energy Trust has approved our funding application to erect floodlights on the Awakeri fields. It sounds like the work is going to start immediately. Maye we wont have too many more trainings under the HirePool portable lights, which have worked out quite well.
The draw for the women's Federation Plate has been changed, with Rangers having four games in June against BOP teams at our level. Should be good! Check our Rangers results and BOP results pages for details

4 May Yahoo! An unbeaten weekend for Rangers with the women's team drawing 0 - 0 with Tauranga City. The team shared player of the day with a tenacious performance. The match report. Watch for photos to come.
Our league tables are all up to date and correct (after a small fright on the Fed web site where Rotorua White was listed as winning 7 - 0!)
Congratulations to Brisbane Roar on winning the A League championship today, 2 - 1 against Western Sydney Wanderers.

3 May Rangers men nailed a good home win against the league leaders AFC Fury. A Ben McPherson goal, a great team effort and a crucial late save from Wett was the brief story of the game. Here's the match report.

30 April The EPL comes to NZ. In late July, Newcastle Utd and West Ham Utd are coming over from the UK to play games with the Phoenix and Sydney.
Tues 22 July Sydney v Newcastle in Dunedin
Wed 23 July Nix v West Ham in Auckland, 7.30
Sat 26 July Sydney v West Ham and Nix v Newcastle in Wellington. A double header. Sounds like great fun, just a week after the World Cup in Brazil ends.

27 April Rangers women had a feisty encounter with Kawerau Town. Kawerau won 9 - 0 in the end. Jenny McIntyre was player of the day for Rangers. Here's the report

26 April Rangers got off to a good start at Te Puke, and led 3 - 1 at the break. However, Te Puke's combination of imported kiwifruit workers put together some classy football after the break and grabbed a 4 - 3 win! Chris Butler player of the day. Jaiden scored two and Ali one. Here are some good photos, thanks photographer Frank and the match report.

23 April Check out photo of the week. Some people did get to play at Easter!

13 April Rangers women made last year's champs Rotorua United work, but the goals did come today. Tracey was player of the day. Read the report.

12 April Rangers men got a home draw with Ngongy, a match played in good spirit. Rangers had quite a few chances but could only convert the one. Ngongy were fast on the break and didn't have so many chances, but stand in Rangers keeper Hamish Wilde made a couple of very good saves to be player of the day. Well done Hamish. Here's the report.
Good luck to the women tomorrow who take on Rotorua, who won 30 - 0 last week!!!

7 April Rangers teams both lost their opening games this weekend. However, the women would be pleased to hold out against a strong Whakatane team for 43 minutes today. Rangers keeper Ashleigh Daines pulled off some good saves. However, Whakatane ran out the winners 6 - 0 in the end. Mary Pease was player of the day. The mens team on Saturday had a fair share of the game. They lost at Otumoetai 3 - 1 in the end, with Christian Wetting converting a penalty and having a pile driver well saved. The report.
Training this week is on Thursday night at 6pm. It may be indoor or outdoor. Be prepared!
There were a couple of huge scores in the women's league today, a 30 - 0 and a 17 - 0.
Want some fun?? Check out our light hearted poll on local football issues.

2 April A good night training and a productive club meeting. Good luck to both teams for their first competitive games this weekend. Because daylight saving is ending, next week's training is likely to be indoors at the Awakeri Events Centre gymnasium (don't wear sprigs!!) from 6pm till 8pm on Thursday. However, this is to be confirmed, so watch this space!

31 March The women had a good hit out against Whakatane on Sunday. Good to see Shirley put one in the net. There is a meeting after training this Wednesday. On the agenda: future training nights, progress with the lights, sponsorship and the upcoming season. It's only days away!

It is a shame to see no Opotiki in Bay Two.

16 March An unbelievable Phoenix game at Melbourne Heart. Siggy sent off in first half. Despite the ref not giving us an obvious pen and sending off their defender for a blatant handball, and giving them a soft penalty as well, the Nix earned a gutsy 2 - 2 draw. Check out our Phoenix pages.

15 March Next Saturday Rangers are hoping to have one or two teams in a mixed charity seven aside tournament at Whakatane. $10 a head. Min 2 women on the field. Women's games, if cancelling a game because of pitch conditions, ring opposition and see if the game can be played at their venue. Maybe a Kaimai Challenge between winners of Waikato and BOP knock out cups as curtain raiser to All Stars game. Team cards scanned and emailed in.
See you on Wednesday. We need at least three more women / senior high school girls. Come to Awakeri Wed 6pm.

17 January Hah! Check out Photo of the Week!

15 January The Phoenix keep their unbeaten run going with a 1 - 1 draw against last year's champions Central Coast. Gale force winds didn't help the football much. This Saturday the star studded Melbourne Victory visit Wellington. Should be a good battle. Check out our Phoenix pages, which have links to all the Phoenix games in history, our version of the highlights.

1 January 2014 The Phoenix produce maybe their best ever result: without stars Hernandes and Ifill, Nix come from behind to win 3 - 1 at last years premiers West Sydney. Huysegems 2 superb goals and an assist. Tyler Boyd subbed on and a goal and assist too. Two home games coming up. Go see them!

28 December 2013 Kylie did very well delivering a stirring tribute to Holly at a packed funeral. The girls showed up in force, it was also great to see referees Norm Howe and Graham Moore attending. Farewell Holly. She'll be showing them how to play football in heaven, as well as riding her horse. Sadly missed here on Earth though.
The Phoenix grabbed another win, two in a row.

23 December Holly's funeral is Friday, 11am at Galatea Hall. Rangers women meeting at Awakeri at 9.45am to travel there. A huge reminder to try and stay safe everyone.
Good news and bad news at the Nix last night. Finally a win, but Paul Ifill snapped achilles.

22 December Terrible news today. Holly Davis was killed last night in a car accident at Galatea. Holly was a stand out performer for Rangers women this year. Her skills, determined attitude and team contribution will be greatly missed. Holly won the most promising player award this year.

20 December The Nix butchered a number of chances last night at Central Coast, including a penalty straight at the keeper. Maybe this Sunday, Father Christmas will bring some luck and a home win against Del Piero's Sydney at 7pm.

3 Dec Nix still waiting for a win, again the better team, but West Sydney's keeper kept them out. Next up the longest away tripin world football (Yes!! Longer than Plains Rangers travelling to Taupo, although if you're in Kirk's van it might feel rather similar!). Next home game Sat 14th Dec. Bazza, Asha and Jezza planning to be there.

25 November WaiBOP Football End Of Season meeting next Monday 2 Dec, 6.15 pm at Sport BOP in Tauranga, wherever that is. If you want any input into BOP leagues from this season or for next season, you can attend on our behalf or let Barrie know
The Phoenix were robbed of a much deserved result in Sydney on Saturday, with the home team grabbed an injury time winner as the Nix pushed for their own winner. Maybe this weekend, their excellent football will bring the payoff when they finally get to play in Wellington! Check out our Phoenix pages.

16 November Pretty painful result in Mexico on Thursday. Talking of pain, check out our photo of the week. Ash says they were the worst team he has even played against. Two red cards then this....
Maybe the All Whites can pull off a miracle in Wellington this Wednesday, 7pm, and win 4 - 0. A series of Welly earthquakes leading up to the game might put the Mexicans off sufficiently!

11 November Nix had a 1 - 1 draw with Perth yesterday. The All Whites prepare for a huge game on Thursday morning, 9.30am our time at Mexico. The odds are well against us. What is the TAB paying?

7 November. Bad news that All Whites skipper Winston Reid out injured for Mexico games. Nix play in Christchurch before AW players, including Smeltzy from Perth fly out straight afterwards for LA then Mexico.

30 October Hopefully Nix get better than Sunday's 0 - 0 draw in Napier.

20 October Wellington Phoenix produce an excellent last 60 minutes to draw 1 - 1 away at West Sydney, last year's premiers. Hernandes and Ifill outstanding. Check out our Phoenix pages.

19 October There was a good send off to Margaret on Thursday, with a good repesentation of footballers at the funeral.
Shock news locally that Becca Todd the FDO for our area has resigned this week. She only replaced Mike Ward a few months ago. Some of the programmes she had set up have now been cancelled, e.g. Beach Football. Futsol is carrying on. Let's hope there is some local say in the next appointment of our FDO.

15 October SAD NEWS: Margaret Elliot passed away on Monday. Margaret was a life member of Plains Rangers (Edgecumbe Soccer Club). She was our secretary for many years. She was always encouraging, supportive, prepared to give people a hurry up if they needed it. She turned up with trays of food at our club meetings, she even washed the strip for us every week up until two years ago. Margaret you are a legend. Farewell.
Our sympathy and love to Margaret's family, especially Hori & Sara.
Funeral 1.30pm Thursday.

Most leagues have now finished. Check out the league tables on our BOP Results page.

17 September A nice message from Hayley on our Guestbook.

15 September Woohoo, Rangers women scored! After having a shot cleared off the line in the first half, and Jenny Fox missing a sitter, Kate Simons scored with a good strike after a lot of Rangers pressure against TCU. However, a poor first half was costly, with TCU winning 6 - 1. Here are some cool photos of the game and the men's game from yesterday. Many thanks to Kylie for the mens photos.

14 September Rangers were valiant in defeat, going down in the end to Whakatane Town. It took Whakatane's quick forwards 30 minutes to get through Rangers defences, and past outstanding keeper Christian Wetting. Whakatane won 4 - 0 with a rather flattering score line. Good movement and speed won them the game. Rangers player of the day was Grahame Sims, with Mark Jeynes also impressing. Here are the photos.
Good luck to Rangers women tomorrow, at home to TCU.

10 September Kick off in the Sponsors Cup on Saturday is 12.30pm at Whakatane. Make sure you're fit, awake, ready to go!! Last chance for subs this weekend!!
Siggy set a shocking example for the All Whites this morning, Jumping two footed onto the United Arab opponent, after fouling him. Check out our photo of the week for another non-role model.

9 September Football coming up.... Sponsors Cup this Saturday at Whakatane.
Futsol, on Wednesday evenings. Women from 6 to 7pm, Men from 7 - 8pm
Beach Football, Friday evenings at Maraetotara Reserve Ohope, 5 - 6.30pm.
Our AGM and Prize Giving Sat Oct 12th

7 September Rangers men scratched together a team to play Te Puke today, and did better than the 5 - 1 loss suggests. Three soft goals in the second half blew the score out. Ben scored a great goal after a terrific run and cross by Joel. Grahame player of the day. Here's the report. Sounds like Rangers women did well too, down 1 - 0 at half time, 4 - 0 in the end.

3 September Check out the great positive comment paid to our women's team in the guestbook. It's from L.W (whoever that is)

1 September Rangers women got through to the Pullar Bowl final in the tournament today. They went agonisingly close, losing to Te Puke 1 - 0 with two minutes to go! Well done girls! The report.

31 August Nil all at half time, but errors gave Whakatane three chances, which they took. We got a goal back, but lost 1 - 3. Joel player of the day. Here's the report. Prize Giving now looks like Oct 12th, wait and see!

28 August Meeting tonight after 5 v 6 training. Results: The yellow team won, and.....
1. Players who are not fully paid up with subs are not eligible to receive awards at Prize Giving.
2. Prize Giving tentatively booked
3. AGM at prize giving. Constitution to be passed.
4. Sponsors Cup game looking like it is Sat 14th Sept at Whakatane. Keep it free!

27 August Club meeting after training this Wednesday, at the Plains Hotel Edgecumbe, probably about 8pm.
Home game v Whakatane on Saturday. Fire up everyone!!!
On Saturday, Katikati beat Kawerau 2 - 1 in the Bay Sportsmed Cup final and Otumoetai beat Ngongy in the Bowl final.

24 August Sadly Rangers women have had to default to Papamoa tomorrow. Injuries meant Rangers were left with too few players.

18 August Rangers women did better than the men today, after being similarly down 3 - 0 at TCU, they only conceded one more goal. POD Julie Reihana got knocked down but she got back up again! A brief report

17 August Rangers struggled to get a team today and had to use goalkeepers no 8 and 9 for the season (Matt, then Hone). Bazza, Muggs and Chris Dell all got 90 minutes. Relics were too strong, winning 7 - 0 in the end, but Rangers did create some decent chances and could easily have got three or four. Paddy was player of the day. The Brief Report.
A road accident prevented Whakatane getting to Taupo for their game in Bay 1, and Kawerau only got eight players to Ngongy and lost 8 - 2.

11 August Rangers dropped to the bottom of the table today after narrowly losing at home 3 - 2 to Taupo Lakers, while Ngongy scored their third win in a row. It was great to see the return of the big fulla Wett in goal, but Rangers didn't take their chances. Ben was player of the day. Here's the report. Here are some action photos.

8 August Great fun training in the fog last night. After Ranee scored a good goal she stopped reminding people that she was only a defender!
Women's game from Sept 22 brought forward a week to Sept 15th. Please note!
We are also approaching Whakatane about have the Sponsors Cup game on Sat Sept 14th. Watch this space!

5 August. The Bay Sportsmed Cup final will be between Katikati, who beat Relics 4 - 1 and Kawerau who traveled well to beat Taupo A 3 - 2. Strangely enough, the final is also being played in Taupo. It's on Aug 24th.

4 August Rangers women played well today, ended up losing 3 - 0 at Te Puke. Mel Rode was player of the day. She will be missed. Holly goal ruled out for off side.

31 July The Pullar Cup and Bowl draw for the women on Sept 1st is out. Rangers have drawn Rotorua in the first round. Yay! Go to the BOP Results page for the whole draw and format. Happy birthday Mary for today and farewell to Mel, she had her last training at Rangers tonight and last game coming up on Sunday before she heads home.

29 July Wow, Ngongy are on a roll, they won again this weekend to draw level with Rangers and create a good battle to avoid the wooden spoon. Thanks for nothing Whakatane!! Rangers still have to play the two teams Ngongy beat - Taupo Lakers and Whakatane. It could be very close!

28 July Sadly, Rangers women couldn't field a team today against Rotorua.

27 July Rangers men played an hour with only ten men after Adam Mayor, the keeper for today, was red carded. A 4 - 0 loss resulted. A pretty good second half effort though. Hamish then went in goal to become our sixth different keeper this season, so far! Matt stopped a thunderbolt with his head and was surprised that the blood didn't flow! John was player of the day. Here's the report
On the lighter side, Kirk and Donna, on the way to Taupo, in the Combi van (which failed to get there last time), hear a knock knock knocking. Will they turn back? Kirk checks all the wheels, can't locate it. Drives down the road, it's still knocking, Checks again, and finds the team's rack of drink bottles knocking against the panels. Phew. The combi sails on to sunny Taupo! Let's hope they get back safely, via Taumarunui!

26 July Some pretty juicy match ups in the Cup semifinal draw for Aug 3.

24 July Rangers men have a 12.30pm kick off in Taupo this Sat. Make sure you leave in plenty of time to get there! Kirk is leaving on Friday, so that should just about give the Combi enough time.... A few injuries around, so lets hope we can get enough players.
Humble apologies to Ranee Whiting, for getting her name wrong in the newspaper reports and on this site. Lots of good work at training tonight. Hopefully people can put it to good use this weekend! Ngongy had their first win on Sat, at Taupo, so watch out Rangers men, they are catching you up!
A nice team photo of the Rangers women's team is here, so is a funny one!

21 July Ouch! Rangers men went down 10 - 0 to Katikati, who played very well. Best goal of the day.... Dan Overdevest's screamer of a header, into his own net! Grahame player of the day. Today Rangers women went well in the second half, losing 6 - 0. Best moment of the day, Ranee chasing the very quick Lucy Potter and putting in a good tackle. Ranee player of the day. Here's a very brief report of the games.
Rangers men's game at Taupo this Saturday could well be an early kick off. Be prepared!

18 July The Women's Pullar Cup and Bowl is being contested in a one day tournament on Sunday Sept 1st this year. Women's team photo being taken on Sunday before game at Whakatane. Be there!! Polish your boots!

15 July WaiBOP Federation CEO Cam Mitchell has resigned, going to manage Northern Federation at North Harbour. Peter Arndell is taking over his job till a new person appointed.

14 July Taupo A were a bit too strong for Rangers men, but the 2 - 4 score showed it was a decent scrap. Dan Overdevest was great in goal, making a couple of brave saves. Young Hayden Wilde was player of the day. Goals to John Stephen and Ben McPherson. Kirk's van is back on the road.... will it travel to Taupo in two week's time?? Here's the report.
A rather crazy score from Fed One yesterday, with Whakatane losing 10 - 1 to Ngongy. Ouch! They obviously don't adhere to Matt Dalgity's mantra: "No injuries, no double figures, no extra time!"

10 July Rangers women are defaulting their game in Hamilton against Melville this Sunday.

7 July A 6 - 1 loss sounds like a hiding, but it wasn't Rangers men looked very good for 30 min, deservedly led 1 - 0. Controversial incidents didn't help Rangers. The Kawerau keeper was player of the day! Deano was our POD. Here's the report and some photos. A team photo was also taken. Many thanks to our photographer!
Today Rangers women improved by 13 goals on their earlier encounter with Old Blues! Ranee's bravery earned her player of the day. The report.

3 July Rangers adopted a draft constitution tonight at the club meeting. Women players were asked to please text Michel if they weren't coming to training so he can plan according to numbers. A reminder that subs are now overdue. Please pay to Barrie or Kylie. Another combined training tonight was pretty full on, good value. Check out the player profiles. Sam's is new.

30 June Rangers hung in there to grab an away win at Ngongy yesterday. Grahame was keeper and did well. Rangers were under pressure for most of the first half but gained the upper hand in the second. Joel player of the day. Here's the report. Other notable points....Kirk forgot to tell Matt it was an early kick off, so when Kirk rang to ask where he was.... "I'm at home!" Then Matt gets to Ngongy at half time, subs in lasts 20 min and then has to sub off again! Oh well. Ref for the next game Tracy Te Kiri impressed everyone with his problem solving ability, using three planks to get himself into the middle of a blackberry jungle to retrieve a match ball. Impressive stuff!
Sounds like a difficult situation at Whakatane, where their game with Taupo A was called off early after a serious medical incident. So far the game has been recorded as a 1 - 1 draw. That result could come under review.

26 June Great training tonight. The mens and womens were combined and Michel led us through good attacking, possession exercises and a hard fought game. Oi Oi Rangers!
Club meeting after training next Wednesday, probably at the Plains Hotel.

25 June The draw for the Bay Sportsmed Cup / Bowl is out. Rangers will be at home to Taupo A, on July 13th. Check out the rest of the draw on our BOP results page.
Rangers women's postponed game against Tauranga City is now scheduled for August 18.

23 June It was a well fought local derby at Awakeri today. Kawerau were the visitors and the action started before kick off, with Kawerau questioning the eligibilty of one the Rangers players. There was a lively debate and then the football started. Both teams competed well, two goals in each half saw the visitors win Holly was player of the day. Here's the report and some photos.
Saturday's men's match against Whakatane was postponed till August 31, at Whakatane's request.
The voting about the future of the womens league has resulted in option 1. Oh dear, maybe some clubs just couldn't see the bigger picture.

16 June We received a message at 10.15 this morning that the Women's game at Mt Maunganui was postponed. Hopefully not too many of them had left to travel over, but they must have been about to.
Scheduling difficulties in the Women's draws have meant that a reorganisation is looming or clubs will be oplaying to mid October! Clubs have been given this week to vote on the proposals:
1. Leave the games ‘as is’ and reschedule were necessary, season will flow into and finish mid/late October
2. Where teams are scheduled to play in Leagues and/or Knockouts against the same opposition then play once to cover multiple matches
3. Play one full round in Bay 1 and split into a Top 5 Bottom 4 with points carrying through

15 June Rangers men barely scraped together a team today at Otumoetai. We scored three goals, but conceded 6, not a bad effort considering. Matt's hamstring gave out too. Sam player of the day. Here's the report. We need players available next week please!
Some crazy scores in various games, including a 16 - 0 in Fed Two!

12 June Some good football played at training tonight. Birthday girl Kate Simons scored a nice goal, despite having to put up with Muggsy's wayward passes that missed her by several metres. Julie Reihana put her body on the line to deny several goos shots. Newcomer Zara showed she has some courage. Nows lets put on some good showings at the weekend Oi Oi Rangers!
Some very interesting answers on our poll. How come Gareths Morgan's cat is winning one of the sections????

9 June Te Puke were too strong for Rangers yesterday, but a good second half showing kept the score to 0 - 3. Deano player of the day. A cameo from Bas. Mike saved a pen. Here's the report.
Don't forget our tongue in cheek poll on football issues in the BOP!
Keep the subs coming in. Email Barrie for the bank account number if you want to pay by internet banking.

5 June Rangers women have defaulted to Waikato Unicol this weekend.

3 June AFC Fury will look like they got a hiding, losing 6 - 0 to Northern League leaders East Coast Bays in the Chatham Cup today, but the score doesn't tell the story of failure to finish chances that could've had them 3 - 1 up and then a red card. Oh well. On TV tomorrow 7.30pm NZ All Whites v Jordan (not that Jordan!)

2 June Rangers gave a good account of themselves at Whakatane. A good crowd turned out in the sunny conditions. Rangers led for most of the game and deservedly so, but a late penalty meant they only took away a 1 - 1 draw. Player of the match birthday boy Matt Dalgity. Simon Ruiter played his first game in ten years and was very sound in goal. Read the report.
Men.... your subs are now due. Bring full or part payment to training on Wednesday or game on Saturday.

29 May Our best wishes to Margaret and Michel Nillesen and family with a serious injury to their son in law in Auckland early this week.
Rangers are one of many teams given a bye in the next round of the Bay Sportsmed Cup on 22 June. However, the home match with Whakatane has been brought forward to replace it on that date.

26 May Good to see Kelly Wilson and Matria Puutu back on the field for Rangers women today. They both made a good impact, Kelly slotting back into centre defence like she'd never been away! Rotorua however were very impressive and were deserved winners. Kate was player of the day. Here's the report.

25 May Rangers were very lucky to leave Opotiki with a win. Opotiki dominated all but the last 20 minutes, surrendering a 2 - 0 lead from there on. Joel Ogilvy made a good impact in the second half, and Chris Johnston scored a brace. Ben Mc broke his duck. Bazza scored a pen. Read the report. Here are the photos, thanks Donna! Check out the rest of the Cup results here.

23 May We have updated our fun poll. Have your say. Your answers are sure to make a difference!
For more entertainment, have a read of Relics' match report from Saturday's game. Even ref Neil McCready's whistle blowing gets a mention!

21 May Interesting clashes this weekend. Rangers men play Opo. Both teams are 2nd bottom in their divisions and have both conceeded 26 goals in 7 games. However, Opo have scored twice as many goals as Rangers. What will make the difference?? Rangers women, on the other hand, play top of the table Rotorua, who usually show no mercy, so it looks like another tough day out at Awakeri for them. Cmon girls, time for a goal.
Remember, Meeting after training Wed at Plains Hotel. Subs are due! Only $125.

19 May Relics gave Rangers a footballing lesson in movement, good passing and finishing today, winning 6 - 0. Rangers did have several chances but Relics were deserved winners. Rangers women also had a tough trip to Taupo. Doh! Brief report of the games.
Rangers club meeting after training this Wednesday, 8.15pm at the Edgecumbe Plains Hotel.

14 May Some photos of the women's game on Sunday, courtesy of Sonia from Papamoa.
Did you know that every single EBOP team lost this last weekend??? At least we're not alone!

12 May Rangers women had a good first half against Papamoa, but fell apart a bit late in the game to lose 9 - 0 in the end. Tiffany Walter was player of the day. The report.

11 May Actually the most drama before the game was not from the Chatham Cup game, which the home team won 2 - 1, it was from Kirk's combi. The boys loaded up at Edgecumbe and set off. After numerous stops, the van decided to give up, amidst clouds of smoke. Then the boys relied on cell phones and generosity to help get them to Taupo for the game. Poor Kirk managed to get there before half time. Taupo were rather flattered to end up winning 4 - 1. Rangers had equalised, with captain Ben laying on a pass for Bazza to stick it in the goal. However Taupo scored a couple of soft goals to look comfortable winners. Here's the report.

10 May For those going to Taupo in Kirk's van, the meeting time at Edgecumbe is 9am tomorrow.
There should be plenty of entertainment at Taupo on Saturday. At 2 pm Taupo have a Chatham Cup clash with Metro from Auckland. Rangers might be distracted during their warm up!

5 May Rangers women put in a good first half, to be down only 1 - 0 against Papamoa. Tiredness caught up with them in the second half to go down 4 - 0 in the end. Kine player of the day. Here are some photos of the men's game yesterday.

4 May Taupo grabbed a late winner to nick the game 1 - 0. Jordan went off with a knee injury that looks like it willl sideline him for a while. Dan Overdevenst player of the day. Here's the report.
Drama before and after the game. While we waited for the strip to arrive, Patrick heard that his old man had received a straight red card at Whakatane. Craig told us later it was for an accidental judo throw!
Late in the aftermatch, out on the deck, Grahame Sims miraculously heard a call for help from the neighbouring farmer two paddocks away, who had had his leg broken by a horse. A nasty injury. The Rangers lads all did well assisting him and helping the ambulance staff into the dark.

3 May The Bay Sportsmed Cup draw is out. Rangers have drawn Opotiki, away on 25 May, 2pm. Check out the rest of the draw on our BOP Results Page. Here are the rules for the Cup.
Otumoetai defaulted to Te Puke in mens Bay One

28 April Rangers women have a draw!!!! After two and a half years: not a loss, a clean sheet and a draw with Te Puke. Well done! Ranee Whiteley's clearances from defence earned her player of the day.

27 April Rangers men put up a good showing at Katikati, despite losing to the league leaders 4 - 0. Highlights that are not in the official match report include Kirk blocking shots at goal with various parts of his body, Grahame making his contribution to Kati's 2nd goal, Keeper Mike playing bounce and catch off the woodwork several times, Jacob managing to catch the follow through of a full blooded shot from Adam right where it hurts and debuts from Chris Dell and Jordan MacOgilvy. Here's the report. Here are some action photos, including a dance routine.

25 April Rangers men are playing at Katikati this Saturday, Moore Park on Fairview Road. Meet at Edgecumbe Rugby club 11 am to leave at 11.30 am.
A fun training last night, ending with a combined mens and womens game. Highlight the collision between Chris and Ranee! If they both play like that this weekend, it will be spectacular! Chris had better have shin pads this time!
Congrats to neighbours Whakatane getting through to the next round of the Chatham Cup by beating Te Awamutu away 4 - 0. Did any of our ex-Rangers players help? Richie, James, Jaiden or Cameron? Scoers involving BOP teams are on our BOP results page.

21 April Rangers women fought hard against a good Whakatane team today, going down 10 - 0 in the end, but the second half showed quite a few moments of promise. Player of the day Kate Simons. Read the report. Here are some action photos.

20 April A hard fought even local derby. Rangers opened the scoring through Ben Howe, but Kawerau came back in the second half. Patrick Lambert player of the day, closely followed by Kirk Bain. Great to see Adam Barkla back on the pitch too. Read the report.

14 April A strange game for Rangers women first up. Away to champions Old Blues, the hosts led comfortably, but the referee had issues with the rolling subs interpretation, which eventually led to the officials walking off the field. An Old Blues supporter took over and the game carried on to the end. Player of the day the busy keeper Colleen Pryde.

13 April A minute's silence was observed for the passing of Adam Barkla's mother Joannne this week. Our best wishes to Adam, Greg, Regan and Toby.
Rangers men secured their first victory of the season, coming from a goal down to lead 4 - 2 at the break, then 4 - 3 in the end. Kyle got a first half hat trick, and POD Matt Dalgity converted a penalty. Welcomes back to Dean Butterworth, John Stephen and Jeremy Hawkes. A good debut from Paddy Lambert too.

9 April A great turn out for the women's training tonight, 20 altogether! Welcome to all our new players. The men got to join in a game at the end, Lucas got amongst the goals.

8 April Yes training is on this Wednesday, both mens and womens teams at Edgecumbe Rugby Club, starting 6pm. We'll see everyone there, the men nursing bruises and sore muscles from their first game and the women champing at the bit for their first game. Any new players will need registration forms filled in.

6 April Well Rangers are back o the field. A pretty good performance for a team that was only meeting each other in the changing rooms! Otumoetai won in the end 5 - 1. Rangers created a number of chances, and finally Jacob Heath got one in the back of the net. Read the report. Welcome back to Dan Overdevest who was a strong presence in the midfield. Dan last played for Rangers in 2002. That wasn't as big a gap as Matt Dalgity, who was back in Rangeers strip for the first time since 1995!!!!
Rangers will be missing Ben and Sam McPherson next Saturday, so more players are welcome!

4 April Two days to game time!! While Rangers have lost a lot of players, Kirk has rounded up a squad. Last year's captain Ben McPherson is back, as are Ben Howe, Jacob Heath, Kirk himself, three imports from Whakatane, etc. See who's in the new line-up on Saturday. Players be at Awakeri 1pm. Its a 2.30pm kick off.
Should be some good viewing Friday night when Melbourne Victory host Perth Glory in first knock out game in finals series.

27 March At the meeting tonight, Kirk Bain was appointed coach of the men's team. Subs were confirmed at $125 for the season. The transfer season is in full flight, with Rangers trading players in many directions! Welcome back to ex-Edgecumbe captain Matt Dalgity! The men's training ended with a game of football against the rugby squad training next door, fun!
Men will continue to train Wednesdays 6pm at Edgecumbe Rugby Club

21 March The draws are out. Rangers men have three home games in a row, while Rangers women start with a bye!!! Click here to see the first few rounds of the draw.
