Sun Jul 27 away Perth Glory win 1 (8) 1 (7) L. Kelly-Heald Australia Cup. Wet and windy in Perth. Same young team that beat Wrexham starting. Sutton and Wootton debut for Perth. Brooke-Smith lovely curling shot, saved by Sail, but slammed home by Kelly-Heald. 1 - 0 HT. 89th minute Perth score! Extra time and lightning delay! Penalties in torrential rain. 8 - 7.Nagasawa missed. Supyk, Ishige, Retre, Candy, Hughes, F. Gillion, J. Smith, LKH all scored.
Sun Aug 10 away Nunawading City win 1 0 H. Ishige Australia Cup. Scrappy first half, bumpy pitch. 17 yr old Eamon McCarron debut in goal. Carlo Armiento and Ifeanyi Eze debut in second half. Eze header well saved. Ishige header from Armiento corner in 94th min to win it.
Tues Aug 19 away Heidelberg United loss 0 4   Quarter-final Australia Cup. Pressing well, but go a goal down, own goal Hughes. HT 0 - 1. Two early 2nd half goals give Heidelberg a big cushion. Attacking subs made difference but...one more.
                 
Sat Oct 18 away Perth Glory draw 2 2 I. Eze, C. Armiento 11.45pm! Hughes injured, defensive highline exposed. Eze brilliant chipped goal be half time, Nagasawa assist. Payne curling left footer only just saved. Nix 70% possession. Payne great cross buried at far post by Armiento. Debuts for Manjrekar James, Ramy Najjarine, Xuan Loke.
Sun Oct 26 home Brisbane Roar win 2 1 K. Nagasawa, Armiento Wind affected. Payne subbed off, shoulder injury. Ball over top gave them a lobbed goal. HT 0 - 1. Piper subbed on, pulled ball hard across goal for Nagasawa to finish. In 96 min Piper played Armiento through and he shot well from the edge of the box. Shirts off win! 6890 att.
Sun Nov 2 away Central Coast Mrn draw 1 1 Eze James out injured (along with five others!), Hughes back. Rufer switch to Loke on starting debut, pull back, Roa-Conchie shot saved, Eze scored 4 min. Ishige freekick hit post. He was then helped off with injured knee. Debut Anaru Cassidy as sub. Nix chances with dominant first half. Armiento, Eze brought good saves from keeper. CCM equalised after half time. More even, but Nix with chances still. Oluwayemi getting off line to sweep.
Sat Nov 8 home Auckland FC loss 1 2 Eze Double header with women. (Only) 12000 att. Auckland scored after 26 seconds, putting a ball past the high line and breaking away. Eze scored after intercepting a pass and curled a glorious shot past the keeper. Cosgrove repeatedly pushing and pulling without being called. Even wrestled LHK to the ground and then got the freekick for it! Auckland repeated their through-ball before halftime to score again. Piper on at half time and was brought down when through, earning Hall a red card. Nix won corner after corner, especially when Rogerson also got sent off for a studs up tackle on LKH. Nix couldn't find a goal despite Eze's desperation.
Sat Nov 22 home Macarthur FC loss 0 1   Att only 3600. Rufer just back from AW duty. James back in defence. Hughes header just wide. Oluwayemi two excellent saves. Macarthur late winner from a break. Armiento had our only shot on target in added time, but Kurto pulled off a fine save.
Sat Nov 29 home Adelaide Utd win 2 1 A. Rufer, R. Najjarine Att only 3063. Dan Edwards starting debut. Nix attacked from the start. Rufer tapped in at far post form a corner. Armiento shot brilliantly saved. Armiento brought down in area. Pen slotted into the corner by Ramy Najjarine. Adelaide got a goal back late in second half. Strong Nix defence, with James, Hughes and LKH all good in centre backs. Oluwayemi made one crucial save. Shirts off!
Sat Dec 6 away Auckland FC loss 1 3 Rufer Exciting derby. Rogerson pulled ball back for Brook to score early. Straight after half time Manjrekar James sent off for dogso on Cosgrove. Rufer scored, blasting in a half-volley from a corner. Auckland awarded two penalties, both saved by Oluwayemi, but the rebound of the second one was followed up be De Vries. Piper had a good header saved. Oluwayemi in terrific form. May scored late to seal the home win.
Sun Dec 14 home Newcastle Jets loss 1 3 Eze Att 3030. No James, Hughes or Payne in defence. Jets started with chances, but Nix survived, then very even first half. Eze, Armiento and Piper all chances. 0 - 0 HT. Jets scored 3 times in seven minutes. One a deflected shot, one when Oluwayemi came out of box but ball flicked over him. Loke shot saved. Eze excellent header from Roa Conchie chip, but couldn't make up the deficit.
Sun Dec 21 home Central Coast Mrn win 3 1 C. Piper, M. James (pen), Armiento James & Hughes back. Sadly Oluwayemi went off after 10 min with ankle injury. 18 yr old Eamonn McCarron debut in goal. Mariners did well until Nagasawa intercepted pass, drove forward and fed Piper in the box, who finished well. McCarron failed to hold a shot in the last min and Mariners equalised. HT 1 - 1. Handball penalty, and Manjrekar James stepped up from defence to smack it home. Soon after, a ball across goal from Piper was put away by Armiento.
Mon Dec 29 away Melbourne Victory loss 1 5 Najjarine McCarron in goal. Hot. Barmy army helping Nix fans. Melb score early header. 30 min an error gifted ball to Najjarine, who slotted it. Another header just before halftime. HT 1 - 2. Vic again early, and again. Rufer limped off. A late one too. 1 - 5
Sat Jan 3 away Brisbane Roar win 3 0 Eze, Nagasawa, Retre Eze pounced on a long clearance from McCarron and slotted past advancing keeper. 20 Min, Armiento sent off after bad tackle, which led to a fight (Roa Conchie nice judo throw). Eze 50m run fed Najjarine, shot rebounded for Nagasawa to blast home. Late in game Brooke-Smith run from defence, squared to Retre to slot home. Terrific team performance with ten men.
Sun Jan 11 home Adelaide Utd draw 2 2 Piper, I. Hughes Poor first half. Very windy, Payne back after shoulder injury. 0 - 2 HT. LBS on half time. Hughes good header from Najjarine corner. Payne great cross for Piper brave diving header. Retre hit the post with a beauty. Nikola Mileusnic finally debut, last 10, from injury. Tuiloma intro to crowd at HT.
Sun Jan 18 away Sydney FC win 2 0 Armiento, Hughes Pressed Sydney hard from the start. Armieto freekick took deflection leaving keeper static. 45 min redcard for a bad tackle on Najjarine put Sydney down to ten. HT 1 - 0. McCarron in goal made a brave stop and a good save. James stopped a shot with his face. Rufer made space in box, dinked a cross for Hughes to head in. Tuiloma debut last ten min
Fri Jan 23 away Newcastle Jets loss 1 4 S. Kartum Jets scored after 21 seconds! Full on first half, both teams lots chances (26 shots). Keeper made a triple save to deny Eze and Najjarine. HT 0 - 1. Caught out pushing in second half. New signing Sander Kartum scored late on with a neat curling shot four minutes after subbing on.
Fri Jan 30 home Melbourne City draw 2 2 Eze (2) Eze pressured City defence after long high ball, keeper collided with fellow defender, ball bounced off Eze's back, and he rolled it into net. 1 - 0 HT. Second goal a screamer shot with two defenders trying to stop him. James poor pass gave City break, Alby KH in goal came out blocked it, but rebound put away. Tuiloma on starting debut had been great, but a miscontrol in front of goal gifted City a goal. Nix earned late penalty, but James couldn't beat keeper. Disappointing draw.
Fri Feb 6 home Melbourne Victory loss 2 3 Armiento, O.G. Rufer out injured. Sarpreet Singh presented to crowd, signed on loan. Conceeded early from header flick on at near post. Najjarine pass found Armiento who powered in a strike to level. Poor work from James and Tuiloma saw Melb go ahead again. HT 1 - 2. Armiento awarded pen, but VAR got ref to reconsider. No pen. Melb after James didn't block a pull back. Armiento corner own goal off Miranda gave late hope.
Fri Feb 13 away Western Sydney draw 2 2 B. Tuiloma, Eze Conceded to a good goal, then a AKH error gave them a second. HT 0 - 2. No penalty call frustrating when VAR pointed out a foul. Singh on debut, went off injured. Tuiloma power header from a corner, then another Tuiloma header, bundled over the line by Eze.
Sat Feb 21 home Auckland FC loss 0 5   Oluwayemi back in goal. Good first 24 minutes, then bizarre own goal by keeper who elected to head a high clearance and scored from 20 metres. Team deflated. down 0 - 4 HT. Keeper subbed. Coach Chiefy Italiano resigned after the game. A sad day.
Sun Mar 1 home Sydney FC loss 0 1   Interim coach Chris Greenacre selected same XI as last game apart from suspended Eze. Piper had strong shot saved. Nagasawa barged over in the box, ref awarded penalty then said there was no foul! HT 0 - 0. Sydney scored soon after HT with a tap in from a pull back. LKH had a header tipped over.
Fri Mar 6 away Adelaide Utd draw 1 1 James Rufer suspended. Good first half, creating more than Adelaide. Piper fouled juts before HT. Captain Nagasawa freekick headed strongly by Piper, deflected off James's head for goal. Under pressure second half. Reds scored after solo cut in across goal. Payne subbed on after injury layoff. Hughes strong in defence.
Sat Mar 14 home Perth Glory win 2 0 Piper, O. Goal Last Welly game for season. 4-4-2 formation change HT 0 - 0, dominating. Piper strong header from corner. Pennington unlucky own goal.
Sat Mar 21 away Brisbane Roar win 2 1 Piper, Eze Early disaster from corner- Hughes and Oluwayemi mixup. Rufer almost broke the crossbar with volley from corner. Then same corner routtine, Rufer crossed to back post Hughes headed across and Piper headed in. HT 1 - 1. Late sub Luke Brooke Smith counterattack, lovely pass for Eze to score winner. Hughes nasty head clash, bloodied, subbed off.
Sun Apr 5 away Melbourne Victory win 1 0 Kartum Nix dominated the first half. Piper hit woodwork. HT 0 - 0 Tuiloma missed free header from corner. Late lovely cross from Eze volleyed in off the post by sub Sandor Kartum. Brooke-Smith also rounded the keeper in added time and slid his shot wide. Interim coach Greenacre has the team humming! First win Melbourne for 9 years!
Sun Apr 12 away Melbourne City loss 0 2   Damn! Probably won't make the top six now. Hughes and LKH good blocks on the line. Vic Nix making plenty of noise in the stands.
Sat Apr 18 home Western Sydney win 2 1 Eze, Nagasawa 11,000 in Chch. Payne good cross, Eze header. WSW caught us napping from a short corner just before half time. HT 1 - 1. Payne another great cross for fine Nagasawa header. Oluwayemi fine late save from Kraev.
Fri Apr 24 away Macarthur FC loss 0 4   Rufer suspended, midfield struggled. Early Tuiloma own goal, down 0 - 3 HT. Luke Brooke-Smith made a decent impact subbing on at HT. Eze and Hughes impressed, not many others. Finished in 8th place.
Chris Greenacre appointed full-time manager.

Sat 8 Nov home Canberra United draw 1 1 M. Van der Meer Double header with men. Very wind affected and Nix struggled to link their play well at times. Debuts for CJ Bott (captain), Bhandari (Samba), Esson, Nunn, Middag, Walker and Vlok. Conceded a poor goal when Vander Meer air swing clearance fooled Esson in goal and a cross went in. Marisa Van der Meer (back from two year's ACL injuries) hammered home loose ball from a corner to equalise. Samba looked very lively up front. Whinham some nice runs Walker solid at the back.
Sun 16 Nov home Newcastle Jets draw 1 1 B. Nunn Injuries: 3 visa players out (including Samba and Middag). Then Alyssa Whinham knee injury just after having fine shot saved, and Macey Fraser out on leave. Brooke Nunn scored early after Pia Vlok nice assist on starting debut. Mack Barry gave away penalty after a tangle in the box. Jale strong in midfield.
Whinham and Middag both ACL, sadly out for season.
Sun 23 Nov home Melb Victory win 1 0 P. Vlok Missing 5 starting players. Defended well, then grew into game. Some nice crosses, Manaia Elliott found Pia Vlok at far post for a tap in before half time. Defended stoutly second half to get first ever win against Victory. CJ Bott and Jale immense in midfield. Barry outstanding at the back.
Sun 7 Dec away Melb City loss 0 1   Samba back up front, but went off after an hour with injury. Danielli in goal, Leon debut sub. Phoenix had the better of the game. Jale hit the bar after Samba lay-off. Sub Main put a good chance just wide. City scored from a free-kick headed back across goal for NZer Stott to head in late in the game. Sucker-punch!
Sat 13Dec away Perth Glory loss 0 1   Midnight kick-off! Lots of chances, controlled much of the game. Perth scored direct from a corner.
Sat 20 Dec home Sydney FC win 7 0 M. Elliott, Samba (2), G. Jale (2), o.g. (2) Phoenix roared out, Manaia Elliott scored after 3 min, tapping in after Vlok hit the post. Samba a header from a Nunn cross, Grace Jale towering header from a corner 3 - 0 HT. Samba and Jale again, before two late own goals. Total team performance. Nix hit the woodwork three times, Samba missed a great chance and debutant Grace Bartlet had a shot cleared off the line.
Tue 30 Dec away Western Syd win 3 0 E. Main (2), Samba Samba shot deflected in by Main 7 min. After break Samba slotted after Nunn shot blocked. Samba crossed to Main to score. Barry strong in defence. Debut for Emma Pijnenburg, subbed on in midfield. Samba fan army!!
Sat 3 Jan away Brisbane Roar draw 2 2 Elliot, Nunn Elliot scored early with a floating long shot, keeper out of goal. Roar equalised, then went ahead. Nunn with a high long shot that floated in. Samba went off injured. Out for season ACL.
Sat 10 Jan home Melb City loss 1 2 M. Woods Samba out, Bott out. Down 0 - 2 HT. Makala Woods subbed on second half, on debut, scored with a late glorious header from Nunn cross. Nunn's crosses were excellent.
Sat 17 Jan away Canberra United win 2 0 Z. Benson, Vlok Samba out for season, Bott still out. Canberra red card near half time. Mack Barry went off ankle injury. Teenage subs Zoe Benson and Pia Vlok scored in the final minutes. Benson tucked in a Nunn cross at the near post. Vlok a long range shot with keeper of the line.
Sun 25 Jan home Adelaide Utd win 3 1 Woods, Nunn (2) Adelaide started strong. Van der Meer almost sent off in 30 seconds. Woods bundled in from Leon pass. Nunn then dribbled round keeper to score from cool reverse pass by Woods. HT 2 - 0. Late on, Manaia Elliott in 50th game, pass to Nunn for a strong finish. Adelaide scored late.
Sun 1 Feb away Newcastle Jets win 5 1 Vlok (3), E. Pijnenburg, E. Walker Pia Vlok scored twice with fine shots from just outside area, then Emma Pijnenburg snuck one through the keeper from same distance. Leon volleyed in a clearance from a corner for Ellie Walker to flick past the keeper. 4 - 0 HT. Vlok put through, midway through second half, held off two defenders, cut away to score Nix women's first ever hat-trick. Tiana Jaber subbed on, coming back from broken leg. Jets scored a consolation. Thunderstorm delayed game in 88th minute!
Fri 6 Feb home Perth Glory win 1 0 Woods Double header. Woods scored first half after she and Leon pressed Perth defence to error. Perth keeper made several good saves. Jale strong in midfield. Phoenix go top of the league for two days!
Sun 15 Feb home Central Coast loss 1 2 M. Anthony Atrocious conditions. Playing into the gale force wind and rain in first half. Mariners scored a good free kick. We got goal back when Leon pressured keeper, who saved Woods shot but Mackenzie Anthony slotted the rebound. Leon hit the crossbar. CCM scored just before the break. With wind behind them the Nix couldn't profit.
Fri 20 Feb away Melb Victory draw 1 1 Woods Even battle. Jale crashed into attacker in area after half time. Penalty scored. Late dribbling run by Vlok, fed Woods who scored cooly from inside the box.
Sat 14 Mar home Brisbane Roar win 3 0 Elliot, Pijnenburg, Woods Nunn cross, Elliot header. Pijnenburg delicate goal after corner rebound. Woods missed a couple of sitters. 2 - 0 HT. Woods slammed home a corner melee. Macey Fraser first game back. Esson a couple of top saves.
Fri 20 Mar away Sydney FC win 3 1 Vlok, Van der Meer, Nunn Sydney early goal. Nunn lovely pass for Vlok finish. HT 1 - 1 Van der Meer header, then Vlok pass for Nunn to score.
Wed 25 Mar away Central Coast loss 1 2 M. Fraser Chance to challenge top of table. Scrappy first half. HT 0 - 0. CCM scored after slack defending a cross. Izzy Gomez good finish before a super Macey Fraser freekick in added time came too late.
Sun 29 Mar home Western Syd loss 0 1   Big crowd 1750 at Porirua. Vlok early volley just wide. Lots of possession but couldn't create good chances. Late sucker punch from WSW long high ball volleyed, Esson well off line saved but rebound lobbed in.
Fri 3 Apr away Adelaide Utd win 2 0 Van der Meer, Nunn Can we hang onto second place? Yes! Marisa Ven der Meer headed in unmarked from a Nunn corner after 30 min. Four min late Brooke Nunn headed in a near post goal from an Elliot corner.

Sun 3 May away Brisbane Roar loss 1 2 Jale semi-final 1st leg. Jale header from corner in 3rd minute. Woods hit woodwork in 5th minute. Roar equalised with header from corner HT 1 - 1. Struggled to put it together on puggy pitch in second half. Roar with late-ish winner. Debut for Mikaela Bangalan in midfield. Essen good saves in goal.
