Plains Rangers men 1, Taupo 1

The signal that the winter sports season was over came via the glorious sunny weather as SLH Contracting Plains Rangers hosted Taupo in their last game of the season on Saturday.
Rangers decided to play with a five man midfield to try and control the game, however it was the visitors who got off to the best start. After only seven minutes a good move found their striker on the edge of the Rangers' penalty area and he slammed home a good shot. In an evenly balanced half, both teams played good attacking football. After twenty minutes Petir Gray went on a great run down the right and squared it across for Hamish Wilde, but he put the chance wide. Rangers put on the pressure. Five minutes later Husnul Gray had a shot blocked on the line by a defender with the keeper beaten. Taupo took their narrow lead into the half time break.
Rangers upped their work in the second half. After only five minutes, more excellent work from player of the day Petir Gray set Jordan Ogilvy for a shot, but he put it over the top. After fifteen minutes, Petir Gray won the ball in midfield and fed Xavier Bain. He hammered a shot from 20 metres and the Taupo keeper couldn't keep it out. Rangers continued to have the better of the play, but they couldn't find the winner, so the final score was Plains Rangers 1, Taupo 1.
