Otumoetai Special Reserve 2, Plains Rangers men 0

On Saturday SLH Contracting Plains Rangers travelled to play the last game of the combined BOP league, before it is split into three groups for next week, away to Otumoetai Special Reserve.
A beautiful sunny day greeted Rangers at Fergusson Park. Rangers, despite missing a couple of important players, settled into the game well from the start. The passing and control were slick and it looked like it was only a matter of time before Rangers scored. However, the home team survived the pressure and after twenty minutes were on level terms with their passing game. Jordan Ogilvy, standing in as goal keeper for the day, had to do some good work as Otumoetai won a number of corners and made Rangers battle to get out of their own half. The game was scoreless and in the balance at half time.
After the break Rangers became less compact and the hosts eventually capitalised. After twenty minutes, they scored a good goal after a nice passing move and five minutes later they repeated the dose. Rangers created a number of late chances, with several of them screwing narrowly wide of the goal. The home team hung on for a deserved 2 – 0 win.
Both teams will end up in the middle group in the upcoming split league, so Rangers will have the chance to turn the tables. For Rangers, Jason Pullar was player of the day, making some good interceptions in defence. Others to impress were keeper Jordan Ogilvy and the hard working Husnul Gray.
