Sept 7th 2013 Rangers men v Te Puke
Rangers women v Taupo

On Saturday, Gary Fowell Builders Plains Rangers scraped together a team for the trip to play Te Puke in their last league game of the season. The home team scored early but Rangers fought a good battle, including one outstanding save by stand-in keeper John Stephen, to make their high flying hosts work hard for a 2 – 0 half time lead.
A great run down the left flank and a cross from Joel Ogilvy led to an excellent Ben McPherson goal straight after half time and it looked like Rangers were back in it. However, confusion in defence led to Te Puke replying immediately.  Te Puke exrended their lead with a lucky deflection off a cross and then scored a late goal to secure a rather flattering scoreline of 5 – 1.
Grahame Sims was excellent in defence for Rangers, earning the man of the match plaudits. This Saturday Rangers play in the much anticipated Sponsors Cup challenge with Whakatane Town.
Meanwhile, Rangers women were at home on Saturday to Taupo. Rangers were only down by a goal at half time, and ended up losing 4 – 0. Jenny Fox was terrific in midfield for Rangers, and was named player of the day. This Sunday Rangers women are at home to Tauranga City.
