Gary Fowell Builders Plains Rangers

May 7 Men v TCU Relics
May 8 Women v Kawerau

On Sunday Gary Fowell Builders Plains Rangers women's team had their best outing so far. Rangers played Kawerau Town, with the venue transferred to Tarawera Park at short notice. Rangers opened the game strongly and after ten minutes opened the scoring. Esther Geerlings powered in a shot from twenty metres. However, Kawerau fought back and went on to win 3 - 1. This was a well contested game by both teams. Stacey Bain played whole heartedly in a well organised defensive line. Kayla Benner was named player of the day for her good running up front.
Rangers men were taught a footballing lesson by the experienced Tauranga City Relics team on Saturday. Rangers traveled to Tauranga, with injuries and sickness limiting their playing line-up. From the start, the hosts controlled the play with some good passing and movement. By half time they were 3 - 0 up. Rangers had a good start to the second half and deservedly earned a penalty, which Tom Davison converted well. However, poor defending handed the game back to Tauranga and they went on to win 6 - 1.
Rangers will have to bounce back from this and be ready for the previous leaders Otumoetai's visit this Saturday. They themselves had their first loss too, with the bizarre score a 7 - 8 loss to Tauranga City's other team in Bay One. Kick off at Awakeri will be at 2.30 pm.
Rangers women are away to Te Puke on Sunday.
