Plains Rangers women
0, Tauranga City 6.

Plains Rangers women were at home to Tauranga City United on Sunday in BOP division one. Sunny pleasant conditions set the scene for a good spirited game. The visitors passed the ball around well and got in front after ten minutes, with a lofted shot beating Rangers keeper Ash Allan. Ten minutes later Tauranga went further ahead with a well-placed low shot. Soon after, Rangers striker Gemma Stuckey had a good shot well saved by the keeper, who palmed it away for a corner. Late in the half Tauranga scored again with two goals in quick succession to take a 4 – 0 lead into half time.
The visitors got into their work again with a goal soon after half time. Then Rangers came more into the game. Their passes combined better and the possession was more evenly shared. Midway through the half, a well weighted free kick from Mishka Barry was volleyed just wide by Mikaela Mathis. However, this was as close as Rangers got, Tauranga City sealing their win with a well worked goal to take the match 6 – 0.
Samantha Burr was named player of the day for Rangers after a good effort on the wing and up front. Others to impress included Amber McKenzie, Laura Powick and Nicky Miller.
This weekend Rangers women have a bye in the Bay Women's Knock Out Cup. Rangers men are waiting to hear if they have a game scheduled.
