11 & 12 May 2019
Plains Rangers men 2, Kawerau 0
Plains Rangers women 1, Tauranga City 3

Plains Rangers hosted Kawerau Sports at Edgecumbe on Saturday, in BOP division one. The Rangers game was part of a home triple header, with the unbeaten Edgecumbe Rugby team on the adjacent field and Plains Rangers women also playing at the Edgecumbe Domain.
The first half was an even affair with chances at either end. At the twenty minute mark, Petir Gray beat a couple of markers and hit a great shot to beat the Kawerau keeper. The second half saw quite a few substitutions for both teams. The Rangers defence changed shape and this countered the visitors' offensive breaks. Player of the day Jason Pullar controlled the Rangers back line well in his position of sweeper. The second Rangers goal came from another well struck Petir Gray shot, which took a deflection to secure a 2 – 0 win. This was Plains Rangers first win of the season.
On Sunday Plains Rangers women hosted Tauranga City in the BOP women's league. They played well and dominated the first half, with some excellent passing and moving into gaps. The second half started well for the home team, but the visitors took control in the final part of the game, to win 3 – 1. Laura Powick was player of the day, she did a fine job in centre midfield, breaking up play, laying off passes and keeping the talk going. Others to impress were defender Karen Toone, who made a great run up the field, goal scorer Gemma Stuckey and keeper Ash Allan, who made some very good saves.
