Ranee's report:
Great game of soccer out there today even if the pitch was boggy at one end and slippery everywhere else. What a great first 20 minutes that we have with a great shot at goal by Janie Soutar however ended up hitting the top bar then Çássîdy Spellman comes in and put the ball away in the back of the net. Well done ladies you should be proud of yourselves today. For the rest of the game we kept on going and going and we never gave up and we got more shots on goal and Te Puke came back fighting hard and we held them off for a 6-1 score.
Player of the Day went to Janie, Congrats girl you did an awesome job out there today.
Barrie's adapted report:
Plains Rangers women were able to play their game, at home to Te Puke on Sunday, with the pitch recovering quickly from the torrential rain of the day before. The sun was out and Rangers women started very well. Speedy striker Janie Soutar was unlucky to hit the woodwork with a good shot, but fellow striker Cassidy Spillman put the ball in the back of the net to have Rangers in front after ten minutes. The visitors gradually worked their way into the game and were too strong in the
end, winning 6 - 1.
It was a determined performance by the Rangers women, with strong tackling in defence and some good raids on attack. Janie Soutar was named player of the day after a strong showing. Others to impress included Libby Shove and Julie Reihana.
This coming weekend Rangers men play in the Bay Sportsmed Bowl semifinal away to Otumoetai
on Saturday with a 12 noon kick off, and Rangers women have a home game against Kawerau Sports on Sunday, starting at 12.30pm.
